Group goes to Jamsetji Tata. His vision at that time encouraged him to start
Tata Group. Due to his contribution in business, Jamsetji is known as ‘Father
of Indian industry’. Let’s have a look on the life and work of Jamsetji Tata.
Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata was born in 1839 in Navsari,
Gujarat. His parents name was Nusserwanji Tata and Jeevanbai Tata. Nusserwanji
shifted his base to Bombay for his business.
After coming to Bombay, Nusserwanji started with small to
medium businesses. Jamsetji was observing his parents hardwork and his father’s
excitement for business.

Jamsetji completed his graduation from Elphinstone College,
Mumbai. Observing his intelligence, his principal returned his already paid
education fees.
Jamsetji Tata entered into business at the age of 14. He played
the dual role of completing his education while running his business. He was
successful on both the fronts.

age, he got married to Hirabai Daboo who was six years younger to him.
Jamsetji started working in his father’s business in the
year 1858. At that time, India was under British rule struggling under their
atrocities. However, Jamsetji kept going on.
Jamsetji Tata started export trading business in Mumbai
while he travelled to England, America, Europe, China and Japan to expand his
father’s business.

Jamsetji Tata has seen four dreams in his life. They were starting a steel company, world class education facility, a magnificent hotel and a hydro-electric plant. Today, Tata Group is at the top position in all the four industries.
